Dhakeshwari Temple


Dhakeshwari Temple is National Temple of Bangladesh. It is an oldest hindu temple in Dhaka. This temple is built by king Ballal sen in 12th century. He was the king of the Sena dynasty.
This Temple was harshly damaged during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. Half of the temple's buildings were shattered. The main worship hall was used as an ammunitions storage area of the Pakistan Army.
Dhakeshwari Temple is a heart of socio-cultural as well as spiritual movement. Every year, the biggest celebration of Durga puja, the most important event in the Bengali Hindu calendar in Dhaka is held at the National Temple.
Every year the Janmashthami procession starts from Dhakeshwari temple and then proceeds through the streets of  Dhaka .It is one of the most important events of the year, this occurs on the day of the Lord Krishna’s birthday .
Every day many devotees come and make offering to the goddess in Dhakeshwari Temple. Everybody can visit here any day.
